Physiotherapist


The North-East Regional Health Authority (NERHA), a statutory body under the Ministry of Health, with responsibility for the management and delivery of Public Health Services within the parishes of St. Ann, St. Mary, and Portland invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Physiotherapist with assignment at the St. Ann Health Department.

The incumbent will be responsible for the restoration of function and improvement in disease processes through targeted interventions such as  health education and promotion, assessment and diagnosis with specialized treatment activities.

Position: Physiotherapist (HPC/PT 3)

Requirements

  • Diploma in Physiotherapy or Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from an accredited
    training institution.
  • Masters Degree in Public Health or its equivalent with emphasis in Health Promotion or
    Community Based Rehabilitation.
  • At least five (5) years clinical experience as a Physiotherapist with two (2) years in a
    supervisory position.

 

Specific Knowledge & Skills

  • Demonstrate oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Display sensitivity and empathy to the needs and feelings of clients
  • Ability to motivate patients to comply with therapy
  • Display objectivity, resourcefulness, adaptability and sound judgment
  • Ability to offer specialist care/service for those patients who require this on a timely basis

 

Key responsibilities

  •  Maintaining a physiotherapy department in primary care
  • Diagnosing, assess and treat the client’s physical problem/condition
  • Developing and review treatment programmes that encourage exercise and movement
  • Treating acute and chronic orthopedic conditions
  • Treating acute and chronic respiratory problems
  • Provide antenatal care
  • Assessment of chronic neurological conditions for on-going management
  • Supporting clients through education and promotion of initiatives geared towards improving healthy life style
