The Southern Regional Health Authority (SRHA),  a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Health & Wellness responsible for the management and  operation of Public Health Services within the  Parishes of Clarendon, Manchester and St.  Elizabeth, invites applications from suitably  qualified persons for the following position at the Black River Hospital.
 

Position: Hospital Attendant – (HSC/HS 1) Temporary

Salary range: $990,843 - $1,177,801 per annum and any allowance (s) attached to the post

Job Summary
The Hospital Attendant, under the general supervision of the Assistant Dietitian, will be
responsible for assisting in the preparation and serving of patient meals.

Requirements

• School Leaving Certificate (Secondary Education)
• Certificate in Food Preparation from HEART/NTA
• At least 2 CSEC subjects would be a definite asset
• A valid Food Handler`s Permit
• At least one (1) year experience in quantity food production and service

• Excellent knowledge of the care and use of food service equipment and kitchen utensils
• Knowledge of supplies and methods used in food preparation and service
• Knowledge of the Public Health Regulations and Sanitation Guidelines
• Possesses manual dexterity and hand-eye  coordination to handle tools, such as knife  techniques for chopping, slicing, cutting, and dicing 

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting the cook with preparations such  as washing, chopping, and sorting ingredients like fruits, vegetables, and  meats, and peeling provisions.
• Adhering to all relevant nutrition and  sanitary regulations and standards
• Placing food on serving counter or meal  assembly line during meal hours.
• Receiving, checking, and keeping inventory  of kitchen equipment.
• Washing cooking utensils and cookware, etc.
• Sweeping, mopping, and cleaning the kitchen, including stoves, cupboards, and  countertops.
• Performs other duties as directed by the Supervisor

Special Conditions

• Duties and assignments are on a shift basis, and the incumbent may be required  to work extended hours if the need arises.
• May be required to work with patients who might exhibit violent/aggressive behavior.
