The Kingston School of Nursing, formally the Teaching Department of the Kingston Public Hospital, is the oldest Nursing School in Jamaica.

It was established in the 1890s and overtime evolved and expanded to include the School of Midwifery, Victoria Jubilee Hospital, the Cornwall School of Nursing (General and Midwifery) and the School of Midwifery, Spanish Town Hospital. It is the premier institution operated by the Ministry of Health, Jamaica for the training of Registered Nurses and Midwives to supply its demand.

In 2007, the Registered Nursing programme was transferred to the University of Technology (UTech). The Kingston School of Nursing retained the training of Registered Midwives (Direct and Post-Basic entry) at four campuses. These are located at 50 Half Way Tree Road, Victoria Jubilee Hospital, Spanish Town Hospital and the Cornwall Regional Hospital. The two years Direct Entry Midwifery programme is offered at 50 Half Way Tree Road, Victoria Jubilee Hospital, Spanish Town Hospital and Cornwall School of Nursing. The one year Post Basic Midwifery programme is administered at Victoria Jubilee Hospital and Cornwall School of Nursing.

The School is managed by a Director who has administrative responsibility for the four campuses, which are supervised by Senior Tutors. The School is regulated by the Nursing Council of Jamaica which sets the criteria for training.

ALL COURSE(S) WILL BE TRANSFERRED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY. AS AT SEPTEMBER 10, 2014 THEY ARE FINISHING UP THE LAST LEG OF THE MIDWIFERY COURSE. AFTERWARDS ALL COURSES WILL BE ADMINISTERED BY UTECH.
